Hello!
My name is Diane Wahl and I am the Physical Education teacher at Wines.
I was born in Ann Arbor and went to Eberwhite, Wines, Slauson, Forsythe and Ann Arbor High. In fact I went to Wines in the fifth grade (the first year it opened).
When I was in high school, I was a cheerleader for three years and also played the flute in the marching band.
I earned my teaching degree at Western Michigan University and have taught physical education in Ann Arbor for forty-four years. I have taught at several different elementary schools in Ann Arbor and have been at Wines for over thirty years. I currently work with three of my former students, Mrs. Middleton, Mrs. Day and Dr. DeYoung. Over the years I have had children of former students which is very enjoyable.
I love teaching at Wines. I'm very fortunate to be able to work with all the Wines children. I am able to see them grow, and develop a good relationship with them. I want my students to have fun when they come to class, learn the importance of physical activity, and always do their personal best. When they leave Wines, I hope they will remember me saying, "Do the Right Thing."
Outside of school, I play catcher and I'm the manager on a co-rec softball team. My other interests are gardening, playing card games with my family, and running my sweet corn stand (I have a stand which sells the best sweet corn, tomatoes, peaches and other fruits and vegetables). Of course, I also enjoy walking and working out to stay in shape so I can keep up with my students. I have a cat named Lola who keeps me company when I'm not working or playing.
